Fundraise
There are lots of easy ways that you can fundraise for No More Landmines to help change lives around the world. Whether at home, in your local community, at your place of work or at your school there are no end of ideas – below are just a few. If you would like more ideas or details on legal requirements for activities such as street collections and raffles please contact the No More Landmines team on info@landmines.org.uk or 02074715580.
It only costs £1 to clear a metre of mine affected land and as little as £50 could help a child to walk again - every penny will help.Dress down day / no uniforms day: pay £1 to dress down for a day at your school or office.
Dressing-up day – perhaps in the style of people from mine-affected countries.
Silent auction: ask people to bring items and put them all on display with a number attached. People secretly write down the number they are bidding for and the price they will pay. At the end, go through all the bids, and the highest one for each item wins.
Raffle: ask local companies for prizes. Design and sell tickets. Prizes can also go to the top sales people. Please check the latest legislation on raffles before proceeding!
Car wash / Odd jobs: charge £5 per car – pupils can wash teachers’ or parents’ cars. Other options include gardening/decorating/dog-walking etc…
Donate-an-hour: donate 1 hour of your pay – it only costs £1 to clear a metre of minefield so even 1 hour could make abig difference!
Benefit Concert: ask a local entertainer to donate a concert or performance for the benefit of No More Landmines.
Quiz night: run a quiz night in a local pub or hall to raise funds and have a fun night out.
Jumble, Boot, Bring and Buy sale, Cake, Book or Plant Sale
Tin Collections: check with the local authorities or landlord if this is to be conducted on public property.
Treasure hunt: with a hidden prize and cryptic clues this can be a great fun and challenging day out.
At Christmas:
Stocking filler sale: you could run an auction of used or unwanted toys & games to raise funds for mine clearance and survivor assistance projects.
Carol singing: organise a concert in your local church or hall. Tickets can be sold and donations taken.
Make a donation in lieu of sending Christmas Card.
To Illustrate The Difficulties Faced By Landmine Survivors:
Sponsored Hop: to demonstrate the difficulty of managing with only one leg.
Sponsored Blindfold: be sponsored to wear a blindfold for a day: Many children are blinded by landmines or unexploded weapons when they touch them, thinking they are something to play with.
Clear virtual minefield: clear a designated area of landmines – a school hall and playground or your local football pitch.
For the Love of Food:
Cake sale: chocolate brownies go down a treat…
Food stalls: each year group brings in food and sets up stalls in the corridors at playtimes to sell it to fellow students.
Square Meals for Square Metres: host a themed lunch or dinner and ask guests to make a small donation instead.
Changing Where You Spend Your Money:
Give something up for a week and give the money you would have spent on it towards improving people’s lives in mine-affected countries, e.g. make a donation instead of sending Christmas cards or buying sweets over a period.
